Historical account of interactive animations on the internet: 1990 to 2015

The topics covered in this article are related to interactive animation transmitted on the Internet. In academia, in the field of animation, research addressing this issue is still rare. From this finding, and through an exploratory, bibliographical, documentary, and descriptive methodology, it was possible to historically contextualize the development of interactive animation on the Internet. In the final results, the characteristics of interactive animations at different times were described. Details of how its narrative has been transformed over the years are also exposed. The conclusion of the research points out, as a great challenge in interactive animations present on the Internet, the need to develop environments for interaction that not only allow the user to make choices, but also expand the freedom of exploration and collaborative creation.
