This study analyzes the contributions of linear, critical, and lateral thinking in the construction of innovative, inclusive, and resilient futures. Based on qualitative research of an exploratory and descriptive nature, using bibliographic and integrative review methods, it investigates how these models of thinking, when coordinated with cognitive diversity, can mitigate barriers to transformation and address resistance to change. The results show that linear and critical thinking provides analytical rigor, allowing for the validation of premises and logical consistency, while lateral thinking fosters the generation of creative alternatives by breaking established patterns. The combination of these styles promotes cognitive cycles of divergence and convergence, expanding the capacity for anticipation and the formulation of solutions to complex problems and future-building. Cognitive diversity stands out as a structuring element in this process, as it broadens interpretive repertoires, encourages collaborative learning, and reduces the effects of mental rigidity. It is concluded that the integration of linear, critical, and lateral thinking constitutes a methodological strategy capable of enhancing the construction of desirable, sustainable, and adaptive futures, and is essential for addressing contemporary challenges related to innovation, organizational transformation, and overcoming resistance to change.
